Junior Fishing Competition 2016

Hi all

 

I am pleased to announce the following dates for this Year's Junior Fishing Competition:-

 

Sunday 24th July, Sunday 28th August and Sunday 11th September (including BBQ Presentation)

 

All rules and details of the competition are attached in the Junior Fishing Competition Pack pdf.

This competition has developed into great event and last year's turn out was 21 Juniors.

(There were a total of 28 Juniors in the club last year)

 

Let's hope we can match that number this year.

 

The competition is open to Members family's only and this year my intention is to reward prizes to the younger Junior age group as well as the senior Junior age group.

 

A large part of the success of this competition relies on the kind offer of Skippers giving up

their time in taking out member's Juniors who do not have boats. Therefore, I would be grateful if any skippers are free on the above dates if they can PM me and inform me of how many Juniors and parents they can accommodate.

 

Of course if any members would like to donate prizes they would be gratefully received.

To date I have had interest in the following local organisations sponsoring prizes:-

 

Purbeck Marine,

MDL Cobbs Quay,

Castaways

Poole Sea Angling Centre.

Many thanks to them for supporting the Club.

 

The closing date for all entrants will be 23rd July. No late entrants will be admitted.

Firstly well done Greg for taking up the batten, a vital part of keeping our sport going.

 

Can I question why the closing date for all comps and no late entrants? Surely we want to make this as easy and welcoming as possible. As a dad with two budding fisher kids I'm keen to take part but a busy work and family life often makes dates tricky.

I am aiming to do all dates subject to lots of other stuff. I can accommodate another 2 kids and dads (or mums!) on JV if anyone needs a boat.

Thanks for adding Reuben to the competition and the offer of taking another two Juniors on JV. As soon as I have the full list of Juniors then we can marry up boats and entrants.

 

The reason for a closing date is to ensure that all Juniors taking part receive a prize. For this to happen we need enough time to purchase the prizes.

Hi all,

 

Just a reminder that a week tomorrow on Sunday the 24th of July will be the first leg of the Junior fishing competition. All skippers and dads will need to familiarise themselves with the new rules and score sheets. These can be downloaded from the pdf attached at the beginning of this thread.

 

If anyone is unable to download the pdf, please pm me and I will email a copy.

 

One main point to remember is that fishing will be restricted to within a line between Old Harry and Bournemouth pier taking in Poole Patch but not the Sadler banks. Boats will not need to be within one mile of a commodore boat.

As the weather is finally beginning to calm down I am very hopeful that we should get a full days fishing in. This of course will be confirmed on this thread on the 23rd July, so please check this thread prior to setting off on the 24th July for instructions.

 

Let's hope the weather Gods are in our favour.

 

 

Also, Special thanks to Alan Green who has donated an extensive range of fishing tackle and Dave Wilson of MDL who has donated two Abu Garcia rods for the prize table.

If any other members are interested in donating prizes please pm me they would be gratefully received.

 

I would also like to mention that on the presentation day (11th September) we are planning to have an array of garden games to keep the Juniors entertained.
