Sinbad Posted June 10, 2010 Report Share Posted June 10, 2010 Charlie, I dont know whether saturday would be a good one to split a group of boats - one to go wrecking or mid channel, one to go to the ringstead ledges (depending on how they fished on the way over) or shambles then round the corner for the triggers. I had an experience trying to tow a pair of kyacks at the weekend, and managed to capsize one (with an oversize occupant in it) - but then towed the pair in a line without bodies at 10knts no problem... so it wouldnt be impossible to do this if one group of Yaks wanted to go the same direction as some boats... Can we start a forum discussion from those who know these waters a little better. Presumably the shambles are OK for the flatties and portland race for the bass ? this time of year. I genuinely appreciate the offers of runs out, but the dates actually clash with the launch of our new Sea Ray dealership which we are having here at the marina and at Studland on 10th and 11th. I would have loved to have joined you all and would have been bugger all use as crew, but could have merengued or salsa'd around the deck with either of you. Sorry, but tight lines to all who go. great white Posted July 2, 2010 Report Share Posted July 2, 2010 Hi guys Following some discussions at last nights meeting here is another update prior to me contacting the Marina and Restaurant The general concensus ref the weather seemed to be, that we should only go if we can do fishing and socialising. I was also asked to make the call by Wed/Thur AM for those like me that have booked a day off. While there was not a specific plan for the fishing, several people seemed to be interested in what was happening on the Saturday, Helen seemed very keen for us to have some fishing so that she and those ladies that wanted to could have some retail therepy n Weymouth. Because of personal reasons we will not be able to go on Friday until mid afternoon on Friday and let the last of the ebb tide push us West. maybe a few drifts on the banks before arrival early evening. We would then be happy to take a trip out on Saturday after breakfast with a plan to return early enough to get ready for the restaurant. anyone who wants to buddy boat will be more than welcome, in fact I will probably have space on the boat if anyone needs a ride. I am more than happy to run out to some wrecks for a go at the usual targets on Sat, With possibly a stop on the inshore marks/ banks on the way home, ebb tide against us from about 1400 Sunday I hear that the forecast remains changable, but at this range it will change several more times yet.
