Afternoon All,

now that the first competition is done and dusted it is time to start planning for the next one that is only two weeks away,

can you please add the names to the list including which boat you will be fishing on, I have started it off with the boats/juniors I have confirmed for the  2nd competition, if you have juniors wishing to fish but no boat confirmed please add to the list and I am sure one of our kind members will volunteer there boat.

Jayden Wald- Ian Simpson

Emma Simpson- Ian Simpson

Amy Simpson- Ian Simpson

Thomas Boyle- Megabyte

also can I ask that all members who offered to donate prizes for the competition bring them along to the next meeting, I am away in Germany at the end of august and need to organise before I go away.

also after our committee meeting earlier in the week and discussing with Mal we have made a slight change to the rules to take into consideration the safety of the juniors, moving forward I will discuss all marginal weather with Mal before competitions, the rule change is as follows

All boats must fish within a mile of the commodore boat (alfresco) unless the skipper of the boat feels unsafe to do so in which case they are permitted to fish within the harbour. commodore boat to be informed of move to the harbour.

simple change to the rules to consider all the juniors safety,

hopefully it will be as successful as the first competition

tight lines

Hello Sam,

Jayden, Emma and Amy are fishing on Alfresco and I will be going along (cheers Charlie) to look after them and drown a few worms when the girls take a break. We are in Somerset up until the Saturday 8th but will be checking the forums for updates.

Really looking forward to the day.

Hi Ian

I will talk to you nearer the time as I will be on board with dad as chief deckhand and probably bacon sarnie chief again.

Hopefully we will be lucky with the other. And look forward to taking the kids out on alfresco

We had a very enjoyable day on Fisheagle and everyone enjoyed themselves. The two youngsters were kept busy. Given the limited areas we could fish for safety and the at times, slightly snotty conditions, they both did well with almost friendly rivalry running through the day. I have asked Dave (Coddy) to put up some pictures and Paul will add a few more when he does the catch report. Paul will confirm he is happy for the Club to use them. Ironically, having just sorted our transducer, I forgot the plotter and fishfinder. I can highly recommend the Navionics phone/tablet version which served us well as a back up plotter. Would we have done better with known plotter marks and fishfinder is any bodies guess. Many thanks to Alfresco and crew.

Allan.

Hi All, Many Many thanks to Allan for taking Sophie and Curtis out on Fisheagle they really enjoyed the day if a little windy. Allan has had a lot of problems with his fish finder/ plotter so much so he left it at home to give everone else a chance apparently but who needs one when you have such a experienced skipper who knows the marks like the back of his hand. Well done for coping without it today. We started well with a number of different species coming in out in the choppy 50/50s and it then went really quiet, we stuck it out for a bit hoping for a Ray but nothing biting not even a doggie. Something to do with a trawler going up and down allday last week. We ventured in towards poole patch and had a few fish and again it went quiet with tide slackening, We moved a short distance to a more productive area and as the tide picked up so did the bites. Lots of different species two and three at a time Curtis had a nice Baillons Wrasse of 7oz and a Red Gurnard of 9oz, Sophie had a nice size Scad of 12oz and a chunky Mackerel 1lb 5oz.

Curtis Driver :- Tope 4lb 12oz, Tub Gurnard, Red Gurnard 9oz, Mackerel, Baillons Wrasse 7oz, Goby, Rock Cook, Goldsinney, Pout, Poor Cod, Ballen Wrasse, Bream and a Blenny.

Sophie Driver :- Scad 12oz, Mackerel 1lb 5oz, Goby, Bream, Rock Cook, Pout, Poor Cod, Ballen Wrasse, Baillons Wrasse and a Blenny.

Well done to Allan for using his tablet and navonics app. to get us around the marks, great bit of back up kit. He really knows where to winkle out the species on a tough choppy day. Many thanks for all your help and advice very much appreciated Regards Paul Driver.

Glad it went well Charlie

Looking after the juniors afloat is hard work .

Sorry to be picky but Sams ray is a small blonde mate,

great to see the pictures. Can you email me the ones of us please

I can imagine the excitement onboard all the way to the final whistle when the boys crash and burn, then have a nap.

This makes it all worth while
