Right, I have finally found a Warrior I like - and it hasnt been sold.

I am having a final look today before a Sea test next week - then I may take the plunge!!! ohmy.gif

1 question though - Does once have an HPI check run on a boat before they buy it? - As you would do a car?

I just think that spending the best part of 10k - it would be a wise move - but how would you do this? - they have no registration documents - no vin plate etc???

Please advise.

#1 Boatsand outboard.co.uk have a 'stolen' section to check against.

#2 The O/B engine number can be checked against police files of stolen engines.

#3 I believe that as a private person, if you can prove that you made every attempt to find out the authenticity of the goods then true title passes to you as you are deemed an 'innocent' party. Title does not pass if for instance you buy a

Adam,

Assuming this is the one you saw at the place I told you ( nudge nudge wink wink smile.gif then you will be OK, since you are buying through a broker, so if the boat is stolen you will be able to claim your money back from them.

( Your contract is between you and the broker ).

At least that is the way I undertstood it - unless anyone knows different ....

Hi Adam

Good news then biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

If the previous owner was the original owner, Warrior keep records so it might be worth a phone call to them.

You can get an HPI check on any item but not sure whee you would start, except a search on the internet.

If you have a credit card and you are buying from a dealer, can you pay by card? This gives you extra protection.

Good luck and hope all goes well foor you.

We just need some decent weather to get out and play.

Yes Paul - it is the same one. - I may owe you a trip as a thank you! biggrin.gif

Yep - good news! Went for a second viewing today. Crawled around underneath, Looked in the lockers, under the engine everywhere.

She is perfect! - 2000 boat, but if she has been used 5 times id be surprised! She even still has that fibreglass smell you get with new boats!!!

50hp 4 stroke. GPS, VHF and Radar.

So I have struck a deal - pending a sea trial on Thurs to see the engine running under load. Then I can take her home! biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Just shows - it was worth waiting for to get exactly what I wanted.

Fingers croosed the engine is OK Thurs!

What do you mean MAY owe you a trip smile.gifsmile.gif

No problem, I was as stunned as you probably were to stumble across a Warrior 165 sitting there when I went for a quick look.

If you are towing her back on a week day afternoon/evening, then let me know and I will be more than happy to follow you back home from work.

Paul, I'll take the outside lane, you take the inside lane, and Adam can go down the middle.

Or better still...

Rich, can you arrange for one of your mates to get one of the squad cars out with the blue lights flashing. Might as well provide the escort properly!! laugh.gif

Hi Adam

One tip that was given to me about the rod rest/bait table bar if it has one.

When traveling out to sea or back have a bungee cord wrapped around it as the inserts of the legs are not that long and can jump out as you jump over the swell.

When trailering it ALWAYS have it out of its position. They are not cheap to replace.

Good luck on Thursday

Hi Adam

I was thinking along the same lines as you about the Shambles trip. Thanks for the invite.

I would love to come along but I need to make sure the FPO is in agreement weep.gifweep.gifweep.gif

My in-laws live near Dorchester so it might be a good tactical move tongue.gif

At least if the sea is too rough to go far there is always Portland harbour.

There has been a ban put on diving on the Hood, not sure how long or why but means you can get near it at the moment.
