Could do Saturday 4th in extremis but was trying to avoid the crowds.

O/k, the in-crowd are obviously going Saturday so I will try to join up with you.

I bought my ticket(s) on line as a BOGOF promotion. Being a subscriber to Trout and Salmon, I took advantage of their offer. When I booked the ticket at wwwgofishingshow.com, in the promotion box I put the code MTF (case sensitive) and selected Trout and Salmon in the next window. This gave me 2 tickets for

Hi All

Last year we exhibited, but it was a few days of bloody hard work with most people going to buy a carp rod not a boat.

This year I am planning on going up so if anyone wants to jump in the truck with me they are more than welcome.

For those who haven't been before it isn't the best sea fishing show, but worth taking a gander. I use it as good opportunity for networking as there are always people there who I can persuade to give a bit of free coverage etc!

Not that I am always on the scrounge, but if I can get it for nowt then I will do my best!

Give me a shout if you want jump in with me.

I can take 5, but it will be a squeeze for the guys in the back (L200 double cab).

Rach isnt coming now so I have room for one more.

Tom is right, it aint the best Sea show, but is worth doing this time of year - their are usually 3/4 boat manufacturers there.

If you use BFM as the advertising code you get the 10.50 tickets also.

I have just been talking to the organisers as they are still trying to get me to go, but I have been explaining about the lack of sea focus and that it isn't a place that many go and actually buy a boat from (so not worth me being there). They assure me that they have upped the level of focus on sea fishing and that it is much better than previous years.

Again, looking for something for nowt I have tried to persuade them for the need for a couple of VIP tickets to do a rekkie and see if I want to be there next year.

With that in mind I may well have a spare which I will donate to any other person to tight to pay for their own.

Sorry chaps - change of plan I'm afraid....my dive this weekend has been canceled and re-scheduled for next weekend - the day of the show, whilst it was a tough call, I need to get the dives done before the fishing season, so will have to give the show a miss...

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Anybody who's missed the Go Fishing Show, you ain't missed much! I managed to make contact with Martin and Simon (britboard), a new member who I welcomed to the fold.

There was plenty there for the maggot drowners and boilie bungers and a bit for the game angler, which was interesting, but the square root of cockall for the sea angler. A few boats, of which I though the new Warrior 175 was the pick of the small boats, and a few specialist suppliers with their own products. Also Warrior did me a good deal on a stern rail with bait table and rod holders for my boat. Which was nice! Virtually no large tackle suppliers so we could top up with the consumables; I couldn't even get any lead moulds. I think 3 of us visited Salt-X and got a good deal. I had a good chat with them and they want to focus more on our club as a beacon for their product on the South Coast. Also, interestingly, I discovered that they can supply in much larger amounts. How about a club supply and people top up their containers at the monthly meetings? AnkerYanka were there and asked me to point out that they are doing chandlery as from May, check the website. Also an alternative to the 'coat hanger' method for keeping the bouy clear of the boat. Will elucidate further later.

All in all, a longish journey, fortunately a cheap ticket with the BOGOF offer and an expensive

I came up with Martin and when we got in we separated as he wanted a general nose around I wanted to say Hi to a few friends.

To say dissapointing about the show itself was an understatement.

We exhibited last year to a very mediocre response and I am very pleased we weren't there this year as the sea section was all but non existent with most of what I would call the key suppliers being absent.

The boat dealers that were there are only there as a PR exercise and the tackle manufacturers becasue they are expected to be there.

I came up trumps with nice freebie from good ol John Wilson, but that was about all that put a smile on my face and I would think Martin feels pretty much the same.

The Salt ex guys were good and so was there deal. Looking forwad to trying their boat cleaning products to see if it saves on the washing down effort.

I think it will take an awful lot to make the three hour drive worthwhile next year.

....A bit naff me thinks
