I'm looking for a good small HP outboard to use as a spare engine for my 15 ft open cuddy Where is the best place to buy one? Has anybody got one for sale ? And what is the best one to buy ? Coddy Posted March 19, 2014 Report Share Posted March 19, 2014 Hi Retro I would look for one which uses the same fuel as the main engine i.e. 4-stroke or 2-stroke This will save carrying two sorts of fuel and ppossibly getting them mixed up! You will also need to work out if you need a long or short shaft model and if you intend to mount it on the transom next to the main engine or on a bracket on one side. Worth looking on Gumtree or EBay but you need to know what to look for when buying 2nd hand. Popular motors are Mercury/Mariner, Tohatsu who make most of the small 2-stroke engine but they get badged as differant makes. Someone here may have one for sale of course.
