Steve S
Studland Bay Offshore Overfalls Utopia Bembridge Norris to Ryde Yarmouth to Cowes The Needles are up for consideration. Plus also management measures are being now considered at the same time plus also for the 1st round sites. Without which the whole thing is a total waste of time IMO. The big question is which management measures. http://www.rya.org.uk/newsevents/news/Pages/SitesforsecondtrancheofMCZs.aspx?utm_source=InBrief&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=mar14-inbrief-nonmem Steve
Mike Fox
Management measures needed are simple: - monitoring (both official and unofficial) - evidencing to enforcement authorities (photos, lat/long, date/time) - defined enforcement authorities (Southern IFCA?) - legal procedures to seek conviction at an appropriate court - defined penalties that can be applied (e.g.punitive fines and take the boat). Failing that, gun boats Mike lofty
Steve S
The main thing is what is going to be banned, at the moment in the MCZs nothing is restricted any more than in the nearby waters. Clearly a complete nonsense. lofty
great white
The main thing is what is going to be banned, at the moment in the MCZs nothing is restricted any more than in the nearby waters. Clearly a complete nonsense. That definately seemed to be the message that we heard at the Feb Club meeting, hardly fills me with hope that this is one of our best hopes for the future
Stuie
If I recall correctly 'voluntary agreements' with commercial fishermen was the method being used to manage the current sites..
Coddy
Mike I know IFCA are unwilling to take boats at the moment as they have no storage and they are responsable for the craft whilst under their care, i.e. before a court has made a judgement. If the boat is stolen then that is the responsability of the Police, however many of the people caught, claim the boat is not thiers so until it is proved who the owner is nothing can be done. charlieannear
As I understand it the intention is to bring in 'proper' controls- it's just that they haven't done it yet. The wheels of these things turn (too) slowly.

The wheels of these things turn (too) slowly. That's bureaucracy Charlie - too many people involved in the decision making meaning everything moves along at a snails pace.
