SEA ANGLING CLASSIC TO BENEFIT ANGLING TRUST

Enter the Sea Angling Classic and your entire entry fee will be donated to The Angling Trust to fund our work to inspire a new generation of Sea Anglers.

The Sea Angling Classic is a sea fishing competition with a difference. As well as providing a superb platform for anglers to test their skills and win amazing prizes, the event aims to benefit the environment, introduce fishing to a whole new generation and deliver key data on fishing and fish species to help promote the sport.

The Angling Trust have teamed up with competition organisers Angling Spirit to help deliver this vision by organising a Get Fishing event for new anglers at the competition and supporting the event's commitment to be a part of our Anglers Against Litter campaign. In a further show of support, Ross Honey of Angling Spirit has also offered five competition entry places to The Angling Trust and for every one we sell, all proceeds will go to fund our work to get more young people sea fishing.

If you love sea fishing and would relish the chance to pit your skills against other anglers as part of the competition being held on The Solent in June, please let us know, so that we can sign you up to one of the five Angling Trust entries available. Full details of the event can be found here.

To enter and ensure that the Angling Trust benefits, please email
john.cheyne@anglingtrust.net rather than entering online and we will put you in touch with the staff at Angling Spirit who will sort out the paperwork.

Clive Copeland, Head of Participation at Angling Trust -

"The Angling Trust Participation team are committed to incorporating recreational sea angling into the hugely successful Get Fishing programme and the exciting Sea Angling Classic event will be a fantastic opportunity to engage the public in trying recreational sea angling for the first time.”

Have-a-go style sessions will be held between 10am and 3pm on South Parade Pier on Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th June with a further session taking place on Sunday morning the 19th June in the historic dockyard, prior to the closing ceremony. Each participation session will allow families and individuals to complete the Angling Trust's Get Fishing Bronze Award and enjoy an introduction to recreational sea angling, while being under the supervision of qualified Angling Trust licenced coaches and quality assured volunteers".

Event Organiser Ross Honey -

"We are really looking forward to staging the Sea Angling Classic and establishing it as an annual event in Portsmouth where there are not only the amazing fishing grounds of the Solent but incredible venues steeped in Maritime history for all of the support activities. This event is a lot more than just a fishing event as it involves a vast range of elements that positively promote recreational catch and release angling and respect for the environment. The Sea Angling Classic provides a great platform to help and support the Angling Trust and the fantastic work they do. We are looking forward to working with them and help make a difference in angling."

You can get involved with the excitement being generated by The Sea Angling Classic, by heading along to one of the Road Shows being held around the country.  These will take place ahead of the event itself where you will be able to see the amazing Extreme Game King boat powered by Mercury V8 250Hp engine which is the top prize at the event, and learn about the Lowrance Ultimate Fishing System electronics that are fitted. Full details of the Road Shows can be found here.

Remember if you want to enter the event and have the proceeds from your entry donated to The Angling Trust, please email john.cheyne@anglingtrust.net
