Just been reading some catch reports on Deepsea and notice that while we are moaning about the lack of fish, the cold, the weather and the fact the cod are gone, the whiting almost have and all is left are doggies and pout.....the weymouth boys are still catching bass from the race and turbot on the shambles!!!! ohmy.gif

Why is this? Weymouth consistantly seems to be produce fish not seen past St Albans...it is almost sub-tropical. Bass fishing in December - Bob and I were catching mackerel!.....is there an explination?

Adam, it may well be that the gulfstream split at lands end, drifts so far along our southerly coast, but the strong tides closer to the isle of wight dissipate it, therefore, the water is just that little bit warmer, closer to weymouth. This would follow, that with current sea temps. rising, different, more exotic species, are starting to show closer to home, for example, the Tuna that was netted recently, also, Trigger fish are slightly more abundant in our location, not abundant enough, however, for me to catch one!!
