Beach Cleans 2015

So, as we know there's an awful lot of cr*p floating around in our oceans, and one effect is that it collects in the bellies of fish, birds and marine mammals, which in turn causes them to starve to death. Another effect is that sea creatures can become entangled and coke or drown. This is bad.

While it is going to be very hard to extract the floating rubbish out of our seas, one thing we can do is help to collect it up when it arrives on our beaches.

For those of us who like to enjoy the beaches with our kids/grandkids/dogs, then there's even more motivation to help keep the beaches clean.

There are several organisations that arrange mass beach-cleans during the year, so if the weather means you aren't out fishing, maybe consider joining in!

Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) have theirs soon, and Bournemouth is one of their locations: http://www.sas.org.uk/news/campaigns/big-spring-beach-clean-2015/?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Marine+Litter+Monitoring&utm_content=Marine+Litter+Monitoring+CID_d002941975a065130448ab7370bb2317&utm_source=Campaign%20Monitor&utm_term=Advertise

The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) also have days and theirs will soon be announced: http://www.mcsuk.org/foreverfish/

The National Trust run some of our best beaches locally, and they have their Beach Clean events too, starting next week; http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/article-1355885924732/
