So, the main story for June, is that of CFP reform. The outcome wasn’t perfect, but was much better than what is in place at the moment. Now to see it implemented and enforced...

European Fisheries reform:

- Debates and votes resulted in widespread, but not perfect outcome. Discards to be mostly halted and many other positive steps.

- Great news that handline #mackerel back on 'fish to eat' list. Barely makes a dent on the stock, it's what River Cottage Canteens serve.

- Worrying reports> MT @DivedScallops: boats have been dredging & beam trawling through the area we dive- a designated protected marine zone!

- Today I Learned ‏@OfficialTIL Due to human pollution, there are now collectively 90,000 square miles of ocean that are deemed "Dead Zones" and can't support marine life.

- Final CFP negotiations - will Ministers listen to Parliament? They need to close discard loopholes & put dates on rebuilding fish stocks

- Council of Ministers & European Parliament have equal power in forming the new CFP. Ministers must listen to our MEPs in final negotiations

- RT @ChrisDaviesMEP: Agreement on reform of Common Fisheries Policy reached btwn MEPs & fisheries ministers at 03.20 this morning #CFPreform
