It encourages fishing practices which damage the marine environment and devastate fish populations. After a lot of campaigning by organisations such as Hugh F-W's Fish Fight, and individuals such as Maria Damanaki, change is starting to happen. I'll try and put up some relevant information over the coming weeks and months (and, knowing how politicians work, this will probably become years).
