She is fitted with a Volvo D4 260 through a DPH drive and Duo Props

Which gives us a WOT speed of 31knots

and cruising speed of about 18-20knots with an acceptable fuel consumption

 

To get the same performance via a shaft would need 400plus Horsepower. and therefore higher fuel consumption.

 

The price of fuel is 150% dearer now than when she was launched, so I am glad we went that way.

 

My sons and I are all Marine Engineers, so we do our own maintenance. This too was an important factor in the decision making process.
