  1. Yes folks, it's time to discuss going to Alderney again. Looking for small tides the best dates are between Friday the 6th May and Tuesday 10th May, unfortunately the early May bank holiday is smack in the springs.. The next lot of neaps are around 2 weeks later but they are not very small at all so very much a backup. Last year we went in July, the flattie fishing was 'ok', best fish was a Brill of 8-6, there was at least 1 low double Turbot from Reel Magic (I think). Earlier in the season we have found the fishing to be better, but it's not all about the fishing by any means! We caught quite well on a wreck on the return trip with at least 1 cod and some pollock around double figures plus some smaller ones. Tigerfish is up for going, Alun is keen. Anyone else?
  2. Yes it that time of year again! First the bad news from my look at the tides, the prefered smallest ones don't fall very well over a weekend and some of the neap tides are not very neap. Tide wise the best dates appear to be: Mon 7th to Sat 12th May with the Sunday a somewhat bigger tide but fine for wrecking. The smaller tides 2 weeks either side of these dates are not that small. As a reserve date I would plump for Thu 24th May to Sun 27th May but the tides are significantly bigger so very much a reserve date. Well Tigerfish is planning to make the trip in spite of the mishaps last year (Double Whammy), anyone else?
  3. A late first posting of this favorite annual topic . I've penciled in a trip to Alderney in Tigerfish around the weekend of 6th-7th of May aiming for a 4 day trip the from 4th to the 7th as the best neaps are then. Backup weekend date of the 20th-21st of May with a 4 day trip from the 18th to the 21st or 19th to the 22nd. No crew arranged yet. Anyone else planning on going?
  4. Tigerfish is planning to go to Alderney, around the dates of Thursday 11th to Monday 15th August for either a 3 or 4 day trip, exact dates and trip length weather dependant. Tides are nice and neapy. JV is planning to go as well. Anyone else?
