Hi all, I’m raiding your waters for the first time this season . Tarlach Too is heading west for an impromptu session with a couple of eager shipmates . I’m after some mark numbers for tope and conger near to freshwater or the near area !! Can anybody help ?

Many thanks

As a starting point I would suggest looking at the chart/plotter for the 100ft contour from St. Catherine's point Westward

Don't forget that drawing a line from St Catherine's through the Isle of Wight to West Cowes/Southampton anything westward is in club waters for records & comps etc.

For clarity club waters as in the rules are:

Club waters are identified as being between the longitude [ 001 17.813W ] that passes through St Catherine’s Point and the Longitude [ 002 27.406W] that passes through the tip of Portland Bill and as far South as France.

I would agree with Dave that any of the banks south of the iow can hold tope not sure about conger but have caught them in open waters ie the cod grounds that would appear almost barren on the plotter.

Cheers Martin. This is not a club comp entry just a social with mates !

Yes but you would still be eligible to enter any fish you catch in our waters into the fish of the month competition which is an ongoing comp

Good point well made Martin!! Thanks

How far west are you coming Neil?

and is it open ground or wrecks for conger?

Hi Charlie,

Just past the needles or there abouts is the plan. We have a late start 11.30am so, would like to get fishing sooner rather than steam for hours !!
