Light setup recommendations

Recommended Posts

Im looking for a good lighter spinning reel and rod for lure fishing in the summer that is still short enough to use on the boat. Ive looked at the GX2 medium spinning rod but have no idea on what reel I should pair with it. Id say my budget for the reel would be around about 40-80 quid. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Any information on lure fishing fro bass would also be very helpful, as currently I can only learn from youtube videos.

FiiSh Black Minnow

Set up drift on Poole Harbour entrance.

Timing is cruicial, 1 hour before low water, first light , 2 or 3 days after a spring tide .

Use the ugly stick, use 15 lb braid with 30 lb mono leader

Dont bump into the chain ferry

Give it three hours, you will get a decent fish

I didn't think you were allowed to drift near the chain ferry?

It won’t be operational at 5 am

No you don’t drift past the ferry, ( good point Matt) I usually find the areas are between the entrance and Hook sands (tide going out)

When tide starts flooding in other side so you can drift (virtually) upto blood alley

No , it’s not easy, No you can’t do it alone

You will find lots of small boats doing this , usual words of caution may follow

Is there a good place Matt? :D

My mate was on a sailing dinghy that went under the chain ferry a few years back.

Don't drift towards it.

So as all above have said . . . . . . . . use caution. :o
