Corona virus update

This announcement is no longer active

Maverick Martin

Dear Members

It is over 6 months since we went into lock down and posted our first message to members about cancelled meetings.

As a club we have not been able to meet since March, but we are still here in the virtual world of the website.

We have been looking at the opportunity to have a club meeting and have liaised with Oakdale Conservative Club who have introduced social distancing. We were getting ready to arrange a meeting for possibly for November, but definitely for December.

However, with the arrival of the second wave this is not going to be possible. I do not know how long it will be before we are able to meet again in one room, but the committee will keep monitoring the situation. But looking at the current situation with increasing infections in the north of the country, and the numbers of people infected locally, it may be a long time before we can meet again.

Please keep in contact with other members on the website, and let us know what you have been catching, or whether you have bought another boat or indeed any other piece of fishing/boating related equipment. The individual and boat species hunts are still running and well supported plus the Photo of the month competition continues to run.

The club has organised 2 competitions for best specimen, and most species being fished over the weekend of 24th and 25th October. Hopefully the weather gods will be good to us and we will get some good fish.

I am only aware of a couple of members becoming ill with Covid-19 virus so far , but I urge ,members to maintain social distancing and wear face masks when in contact with the public. Contrary to previous thinking B&Q is not a Covid-19 free zone. It is a good job most boats are wider than 6 foot.

Looking to the future the Committee are still meeting remotely and will have their next planned meeting in January. If there are any developments in treating this infection we are able to arrange a virtual meeting with short notice if necessary to arrange meetings or deal with any other club business.

If any members have any creative suggestions about competitions for the membership, that they may be interested in please share them with us.
